Pharrell Williams sends Trump cease and desist for playing "Happy" at rally

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Trump decided to kick off one of his pathetic, fascist, ego-stroking rallies on Saturday by playing Pharrell Williams’ “Happy,” despite the fact that his rally occurred just hours after multiple people were murdered at the Tree Of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh and after a number of news outlets and politicians that Trump has criticized received apparent bombs in the mail. Oh wait, it was not “despite the fact,” it was just completely irrelevant because Trump couldn’t give less of a shit about anyone other than himself.

Anyway, Williams has now sent a cease and desist letter to Trump that stops just short of calling him a stupid asshole. In the letter, Williams’ lawyer notes that Trump played the song “on the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist’” even though “there was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country.” The letter also notes that Williams has not granted Trump permission to use the song in any way, and the act of playing it at the rally—which, again, was pathetic, fascist, and ego-stroking—“constitutes both copyright and trademark infringement” (in the words of THR).

Naturally, nothing more will come of this, because Donald Trump is allowed to do whatever he wants, but it’s good to point out how much of a worthless piece of shit he is from time to time.
