At some point, every child learns that an asteroid hit the Earth long ago, causing all the dinosaurs to go extinct. (Well, unless the Creation Museum is providing your home-schooling materials, in which case you’ve got bigger problems.) It’s a bummer moment, because how awesome would it be if dinosaurs still roamed the planet? Pixar posits that very question in this new teaser trailer for its upcoming film The Good Dinosaur. We see the fateful asteroid break off from its belt, hurtle toward Earth, and then…pass by harmlessly. With that “What if?” premise firmly in place, you can begin fantasizing about what directions the studio can take this story. Just don’t suggest that they open a dinosaur theme park; we hear that concept might already be taken.
