Pixies announce new album, share new single “Um Chagga Lagga”
Fans may have had to wait 23 years between Trompe Le Monde and Indie Cindy, but it looks like the Pixies are trying to narrow the gap between outings going forward (and presumably stay together long enough to accomplish that). The band’s just announced a new album, Head Carrier, which is already available for preorder on its website. There’s no track listing as of yet, but the group did release the first single, “Um Chagga Lagga,” complete with seemingly nonsensical chorus.
Head Carrier will be the first album to feature Paz Lenchantin, who’s been touring with the Pixies since 2014, when she took over for Kim Shattuck, the Pandoras bassist who briefly filled in for Kim Deal after she left the group in 2013. The album drops September 30, and is available on vinyl, CD digipack, and as a limited edition boxset. The band’s got some European dates coming up, but no plans for a U.S. tour as of yet.
