Attention bassists named Kim: There is apparently an opening in the Pixies. Over the weekend, Kim Shattuck—who had been playing bass with the band for just a few months, fewer than 50 shows—posted a Facebook message that gracefully announced her firing: "Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone." There's been no word from the Pixies camp yet, as someone is presumably frantically calling Kim Gordon, Kim Warnick, and Kim Thayil, who would likely have to shave for this gig. The band has a pretty lengthy U.S. tour planned for January and February of 2014, so presumably they'll have somebody to fill the bass slot by then. [h/t to Slicing Up Eyeballs]
