PJ Harvey announces first new album in five years

Because it’s never too early to start filling out your most-anticipated lists, here comes the news that guitar goddess PJ Harvey will release a new album in 2016. The as-yet-untitled album will be her first in five years, following 2011’s Let England Shake. Harvey recorded the album, which will be released next spring by Nasty Little Man, during a month-long residency at London’s Somerset House. It’s reportedly a kind of musical documentary of the recent “unique, artistic journey” that took Harvey to Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Washington D.C. Although the artist hasn’t declared it an anti-war album in the vein of Let England Shake, the lyrics in the new songs that Harvey’s already performed in various venues sound undeniably political. Here’s a promotional clip for the new album, featuring Harvey recording “Ministry Of Social Affairs.”
