PJ Harvey wins the Mercury Prize
Congratulations go out to PJ Harvey, whose strongly political anti-war record Let England Shake—which earned an A- from The A.V. Club back in February—has been granted the Mercury Prize for the best British album of the year. It’s the second time Harvey has won the award, having first captured the Mercury in 2001 for Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea. Among the other nominees for the award are Adele, James Blake, and Elbow. So take note, other British music people: You have 10 years to win the Mercury before Harvey gets handed the prize again.
