Place your bets on the top-secret guest vampires in tonight’s What We Do In The Shadows
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Wednesday, May 8. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
What We Do In The Shadows (FX, 10 p.m.) and Lucifer (3:10 a.m., Netflix): Hot on the heels of a renewal order as fresh as the blood of a feebly-stirring human, FX’s funniest vampire series (sorry, The Strain) will tonight welcome a handful of “guest vampires” that the network is calling “extraordinary.” They’ll presumably play the members of the international vampire tribunal that Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja must face regarding some recent questionable actions. So, taking bets now: Who do you think will appear, pasty and wearing very high collars, in tonight’s Taika Waititi-directed episode?
Our bets: $20 on Jeff Goldblum, $10 each on Tessa Thompson and Jordan Peele, $5 on Bette Midler, and $0.25 on Paul Rudd.
You’ll find no hints in this trailer, but it’s fun all the same:
If you prefer your creatures of hell courtesy of a massive streaming service, then perhaps turn your hungry eyes to Netflix, where the resuscitated Lucifer awaits you at its new home. LaToya Ferguson will be tackling this fourth season two episodes at a time, beginning today. As for Staten Island’s undeadest residents, Katie Rife has some celebrity bets of her own she’d like to place before filing her recap.
Regular coverage
Jane The Virgin (The CW, 9 p.m.)
Riverdale (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Modern Family (ABC, 9 p.m.)
Wild card
State Of The Union (Sundance, 5 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.): Episodes five and six of this new Rosamund Pike and Chris O’Dowd series air today, and you can totally catch up before they do, because every episode is 10 minutes long.
You can watch all six episodes to date in less time than it takes for Jon Snow to make one massive strategic miscalculation, and Rosamund Pike’s involved. Enjoy!
