Planetary Traveller
"Created entirely on desktop computers," claims the box for this computer-animation-based fantasy space voyage, and it's true. Perhaps the desktop creation of a 40-minute digital cartoon is some sort of accomplishment, but the video itself certainly is not. As the loose storyline begins, we are told that we're seeing the visual flight log of an alien race whose mission is to explore eight different planets. This is followed by eight different segments of… different colored landscapes. Most of them are mountainous. Many of them have pastel water systems. Only a couple have trees. Meanwhile, a boring, synthesizer-based soundtrack drones on in full stereo, providing no distraction from the inorganic day-glo cliffs and rivers. It's somewhat like experiencing a 40-minute, full-motion video rave flyer, but without directions to the party to make the experience bearable. Perhaps drugs are required to provide the complete Planetary Traveller experience. If so, you'd better use some good drugs.
