Plans go up in smoke in this exclusive Vice Principals deleted scene
It’s not quite time to head back to school for HBO’s Vice Principals, the latest raucous comedy from Danny McBride and Jody Hill. But with season one coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on February 7, there’s no better time to catch up with vicious, ambitious school officials Lee Russell (Walton Goggins) and Neal Gamby (Danny McBride) to start cramming for next year. The season one finale wrapped with a mystery and someone’s life in peril, but that element of danger ran through the whole first season. Lee and Neal’s resentment over Belinda Brown’s (Kimberly Hebert Gregory) appointment as principal boiled over quickly, leading to arson. In this deleted scene, which The A.V. Club is premiering exclusively, the North Jackson High faculty watches in (varying degrees of) horror, as Principal Brown’s house goes up in flames.
Gamby musters up some remorse, but Russell has to stifle laughter at the sight of their latest wrongdoing. Their coworker breaks down the firefighters’ strategy, solemnly noting that one of his relatives is a fireman; the other, an arsonist. It’s small comfort for Gamby, though, who’s showing signs of cracking under the pressure. More deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and audio commentaries are available on the Vice Principals season one DVD/Blu-ray, which is out tomorrow.
