Play the black metal version of Flappy Bird, Flap-kvlt Fenriz
After the highly addictive iPhone game Flappy Bird disappeared from the iTunes App Store, countless imitators worked to fill the void left by the mystical, flapping bird. In August Flappy Bird returned, albeit in a new, multiplayer environment known as Flappy Bird Family, still awash in its brightly colored universe. This colorful environment proved a bit too cheerful for certain users, specifically those who always wished for a grim, frostbitten version of the game. Enter Flap-kvlt Fenriz, a Flappy Bird alternative for those that always dreamed of navigating their way through a series of upside-down crosses instead of bright green pipes.
Paying tribute to Fenriz–the leader of one of Norway’s longest-running black metal bands, Darkthrone–the game allows users to jump his disembodied head through a series of wooden crosses. Each successful jump is met with one of Fenriz’s piercing shrieks, while the game’s restart screen offers one of his guttural calls of “Satan!” It’s a thoroughly crude rendering, but it’s an infinitely replayable game for those that always complained about Flappy Bird’s lack of blast beats.
