PlayStation pulls the proverbial plug on Powers
As reported by Variety, the PlayStation Network streaming service has cancelled the superhero drama Powers after two seasons. The show was PlayStation’s first scripted series, and it was based on the comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. News of the cancellation first came from Bendis himself, who posted a pair of messages on Twitter thanking the show’s fans for their support:
The series starred Sharlto Copley as a former superhero who had left the life of capes and supervillains behind in favor being a totally normal cop who happens to live in a city full of superheroes. The series was renewed for a second season last May, but despite adding famous faces like Michael Madsen and Tricia Helfer to the cast, it wasn’t enough to convince Sony or PlayStation to give the show another season. If you’re still interested in following the adventures of a cop in the world of superheroes, though, Bendis says the current Powers comic will continue unabated.
