Please stop looking at Kanye West like he's Hitler

Having received some negative press over the years about his arrogant behavior and even lost some sponsorships as a result, Kanye West naturally has compared himself to Hitler, pausing mid-set during his performance at England’s Big Chill festival to unspool a very long monologue decrying the way the media has spun his image, saying, “I walk through the hotel and I walk down the street, and people look at me like I'm fucking insane, like I'm Hitler,” adding, “One day the light will shine through and one day people will understand everything I ever did.” According to the Associated Press, the Hitler reference was met with “light boos,” though it’s unclear whether they were booing West comparing his unfair reputation for being egotistical to the lingering hatred for a genocidal dictator, the fact that West is forced to live in the blanketing darkness of such an uncomprehending world, or the fact that (as heard in the below video), they just wanted him to “shut the fuck up” and play another song.

Whatever the case, please stop looking at Kanye West like he is Hitler, as there is a much more apt analogy: “Michael Jordan changed so much in basketball, he took his power to make a difference,” West said, referring to how Michael Jordan used the way he was really good at slam dunking to put his name on lots of things. “It's so much shit going on in music right now and somebody has to make a fucking difference,” he added. And just like Hitler and Michael Jordan, someday people will recognize the difference Kanye West made.
