Please welcome Decider.com
The editorial and tech types at your favorite website (that'd be this one, right?) are proud to announce the beta launch of Decider.com, a new site that will bring the smarts and style of The A.V. Club to your city, starting with Chicago.
As many of you know, The A.V. Club is published within the print editions of The Onion in 10 cities around the U.S. Within those print editions, we also feature lots of city-specific content–event previews, local features, restaurant capsules, and lots more. Until now, those things haven't had a home online. Now they do.
And rather than just slap up what we already do into HTML form, we've created a site that we hope will assist people in figuring out what to do in their city–without being overwhelming. To that end, we've got a great, simple events calendar, a main page with regularly updated features, and a restaurant/bar search function that won't drive you crazy with TMI.
And like The A.V. Club, there will be plenty of room for user participation. You'll be able to store information on your favorite venues and movie theaters, bookmark concerts and restaurants you'd like to remember, and provide grades/comments for just about everything you see.
So check it out and let us know what you think, Chicagoans (and others, if you feel like it!). That URL again: Decider.com. More cities will be announced soon
