Pokémon Go players love Little Caesars, apparently
Shocking nobody who’s ever cleaned the distinctive leavings of grease-stained fingers flicking a Pokéball off of their otherwise-pristine iPhone screens, it turns out that Pokémon Go players really like to eat fast food. A recent opt-in survey has revealed the most popular grease dispensaries for players of the massively popular mobile game, with Little Caesars, the “fuck it” of national pizza chains, topping the list.
It’s not immediately clear why the faux-Roman chain is such a hit amongst the Pikachu seekers of the world. Maybe it’s the speed of the service. Maybe players have spent so much money on Lure Modules and Lucky Eggs that the gastrointestinal last resort of the $5 Hot-N-Ready is all they can afford. Or maybe they just really like cartoon mascots that say the same word twice. (Who can say?) In any case, Caesars came in first, ahead of Buffalo Wild Wings, Jack In The Box, and the relatively upscale digs of Red Robin.
Meanwhile, Carraba’s Italian Grill is the least popular destination for Pokémon Goers, alongside LongHorn Steakhouse and Cracker Barrel. (Presumably, nobody wants to spend an hour trying to catch a Geodude, only to realize it’s actually just a giant pile of dust-covered rock candy propped up next to a surprisingly expensive rocking chair, and one of those little puzzles that use colored golf tees as pegs.) The survey was performed by market research firm Placed, which also noted that restaurants catering to players of the game—by offering discounts and Pokemon-themed menu entries—were seeing big returns on their willingness to buy into the suddenly resurgent fad.
