Pop meets drone in Soft Walls’ new song “Never Come Back Again”
Dan Reeves has a lot on his mind. “Never Come Back Again”—a stellar track from No Time, the debut full-length by his solo project Soft Walls—is a meditation on the various ways time intersects human existence. And it’s a hypnotic meditation, at that. Drawing on the raw, keyboard-heavy drones of early Stereolab as well as the reverb-smothered otherworldliness of Suicide, the song chugs along on a throbbing rhythm and subtle, psychedelic hooks. And true to the album’s overarching concept, it’s a track to lose time in.
No Time will be released July 29 via Trouble In Mind Records.
