Pop star Camila Cabello to star in a new Cinderella ooh-na-na
Camila Cabello, a former member of the X-Factor-manufactured pop group Fifth Harmony and the singer behind that inescapable “Havana” song (ooh-na-na), is set to make her feature acting debut in a new movie version of the Cinderella fairy tale. The story is reportedly a modern take on the story, since handsome princes are definitely still a thing these days, and it’ll have a “musical bent” with Cabello “integrally involved” in creating the songs. That comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which says Kay Cannon—director of the surprisingly good Blockers—is set to direct.
Interestingly, the concept for this new Cinderella came from Late Late Show host James Corden, who has a musical background and can apparently just call up people in Hollywood and pitch a new version of a story that has already been told a hundred times. THR says this project is being put on the “fast track,” so we’ll hopefully find out what makes this new Cinderella so special fairly soon.
Here’s that song if you need to hear it again:
