Preacher, Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, Midnight Special highlight SXSW premieres

Anyone hoping for an early peek at some of 2016’s most anticipated movies and TV should probably look into booking a trip to Austin this March: According to a press release, SXSW will be the first place in North America you can see director Jeff Nichols’ Michael Shannon-starring sci-fi thriller Midnight Special (which also features Kirsten Dunst and hated Star Wars villain Adam Driver), as well as Netflix’s Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday and the first episode of AMC’s Preacher adaptation. However, both Midnight Special and Pee-Wee are having their regular premieres in March anyway, so this isn’t especially early for them.

SXSW will also host the premieres of Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru and Beware The Slenderman, a documentary about two young girls in Wisconsin who nearly stabbed a friend to death under “orders” from the fictional internet boogeyman. The SXSW Film Festival will be held in Austin from March 11-20.
