Preacher tries the Messiah route in an extra-long season finale

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, September 11. All times are Eastern.

Top picks

Preacher (AMC, 9 p.m.): As Preacher’s second season comes to a close, the title of the 75-minute finale seems particularly appropriate. “The End Of The Road” shows us what happens after Jesse ditches Tulip and Cassidy in favor of becoming the new Messiah for Herr Star and the Grail, starting out by performing miracles for schoolchildren. Looks like Hitler and Arseface are on the run as well. Zack Handlen is on board as usual to see how this all plays out.

Regular coverage

BoJack Horseman (Netflix)

Wild card

Little Witch Academia (Netflix): In all the recent flurry of new fall shows, this release might have gone unnoticed: A whole new season of Little Witch Academia on Netflix! It’s like a trippier, female-focused Hogwarts, in which young Akko and her friends try to master spells at Luna Nova Academy that seem to get more psychedelic each episode. What better way to kick off your pre-Halloween season than with a binge-watch of the show’s second season? The candy’s already for sale at the Walgreens anyway.
