President Obama likes Parks And Recreation, Homeland too
With the presidential election imminent, it’s time to finally delve into the big issues, like what the candidates have on their respective DVRs. And while Mitt Romney apparently has a thing for uplifting dramas with confusingly liberal messages like Friday Night Lights, it seems Barack Obama gets off on giggles.
The President told TV Guide that when his family gets together to watch TV, they “usually watch shows like Modern Family and Parks And Recreation because they give us a good laugh.” Obama also told TV Guide that when he’s vegging out solo or just hanging with wife Michelle, Obama prefers to take his mind off the wars on drugs, poverty, and domestic terrorism with lightweight fare like The Wire or Homeland.
The President also said that both himself and the First Lady have iTunes accounts, and that, like a lot of America, Michelle likes to watch The Biggest Loser when she's working out, "Because the contestants inspire her."
Parks’ spot of honor in the White House shouldn’t come as a huge surprise: At a March 2012 benefit hosted by Aziz Ansari, the President shouted out the Parks star as a favorite of daughter Malia.
