President Obama pays tribute to Prince’s transcendent spirit

Ever since news broke this morning that Prince had died at his Paisley Park estate, tributes have been pouring in as fans worldwide pay their respects to the musical legend. Among them: President Barack Obama, who posted a message on his personal Facebook page a few hours ago, praising the artist for his brilliance, virtuosity, and transcendent spirit.

This is the third time this year that Obama has paid tribute to a beloved artist via social media. In February, he publicly mourned the death of To Kill A Mockingbird author Harper Lee, as well as Earth, Wind, and Fire member Maurice White.
