Pretty Woman walking down the street to Broadway

Because there’s nothing more family-friendly than the story of a corporate lawyer falling in love with a prostitute while throwing money at her, Variety reports that a musical based on the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman has inched a bit closer to Broadway. The film’s director, Garry Marshall, has been trying to get a musical made out of his film since 2001, but only now has he found enough interested parties come together to make it more of a thing. The film’s screenwriter, J.F. Lawton, will work with Marshall on the book. Hooker boots are nothing new to Broadway, but only time will tell if an unfortunate mishap while eating snails will be welcome on the Great White Way.
