Prince heads to the desert

For years, Prince has been known as one of the world's most electrifying stage performers, but can he survive the Las Vegas grind? Starting November 10th, the Artist Currently Known As Prince will begin an indefinite run at the Rio, where he plans to perform two nights a week at 3121 Jazz Cuisine, a club named after his latest album. Will he still be the same Prince or fade into a pitiful, aging lounge act? You'll have to pay at least $125 to find out.

Meanwhile, what will become of Purple Reign, the awesome Prince cover band that has lorded over the city—at least among budget-conscious visitors—since New Year's Eve, 1997? Well, they currently have no shows listed on their upcoming slate, but they have appeared on bills with the likes of Destiny's Child and Reynaldo Ray of Bet's Comic Club, so I'm sure they'll be available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
