Priyanka Chopra lands coveted Cowboy Ninja Viking role opposite Chris Pratt
We’ve been hearing about the Cowboy Ninja Viking movie for years, with Chris Pratt first being attached to star as the eponymous cowboy that is also a ninja that is also a viking way back in 2014. This year, though, high-profile TV director Michelle MacLaren was attached to direct the Image Comics adaptation, and now Variety is reporting that Quantico’s Priyanka Chopra is in talks to star alongside Pratt. The role was apparently “highly coveted” in Hollywood, and Chopra managed to win it after a chemistry test with Pratt “went extremely well.”
Cowboy Ninja Viking is about an assassin with dissociative identity disorder, allowing him take on the personas of a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking in order to utilize each of their special skills. The current draft was written by Wrath Of The Titans’ Dan Mazeau and The Commuter’s Ryan Engle, though a previous draft was written by Deadpool’s Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese (suggesting that the current take is probably less irreverent than it could have been). The movie will be in theaters next summer, at which point we can finally stop writing about it.
