When FX gave us a look at the cast for American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson earlier this year, we examined the breadth of Courtney B. Vance’s Johnnie Cochran mustache and the tension in Sarah Paulson’s Marcia Clark perm. The network has finally followed up that 1000-yard-stare photo of O.J. Simpson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) with a 15-second teaser filled with title cards and the characters’ mission statements. Robert Shapiro (John Travolta) promises his word is gold, Clark vows not to let Simpson off the hook, Cochran gives a preemptive verdict on the case, and Simpson chooses some guardians for his kids.
It’s still not much to go on, but we’re optimistic that at some point the actors will film scenes while in character, and this new season of American Crime Story will finally get off the ground. In the meantime, you can always marvel at Cochran’s previous TV defense strategies as displayed on South Park.
