Pylon's Gyrate set for reissue

Please, please, someone care: As reported by Paste, Pylon's utterly fucking perfect 1980 debut Gyrate is getting the long-overdue deluxe-reissue treatment. Pylon is most famous for being one of the big three Athens bands of the era–besides R.E.M. and The B-52's–that didn't make it big. It wasn't for the lack of excellence, though. Gyrate–which was somehow mostly overlooked during the recent post-punk revival–funneled the abstract funk of Gang Of Four and Au Pairs into even slinkier shapes, topped with singer Vanessa Briscoe's brooding, sweet snarl and brainy lyrics. The remastered reissue, due October 16, will be released by the fine folks of DFA, and will include the "Cool/Dub" single, an unreleased track, and liner-note testimonials from fans like Michael Stipe, Fred Schneider, and Gang Of Four's Hugo Burnham.
