Queen fuels this Suicide Squad-inspired Game Of Thrones trailer

Concerns about Jared Leto’s douchebro Joker aside, the first official trailer for Suicide Squad was a pretty artfully assembled work. Set to the strains of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” it conveyed everything you needed to know about the film’s premise, while also being a hooky and compelling ad in its own right. It did everything you want a trailer to do, in other words. So an enterprising Game Of Thrones fan apparently watched it and thought, “Yeah, let’s see if we can’t transpose that fucker.” Those of you who are tired of the whole “trailers redone in the style of X” trick are advised to look elsewhere, because we’re about to compliment YouTube collective VG934 for cutting this trailer for Game Of Thrones that matches the beats of that Suicide Squad trailer to an eerie degree.

Interspersing snippets of dialogue between the opening lines of the song, cutting Thrones to make it seem as though it’s a them-against-the-world team-up à la DC’s group of antiheroes, and even hitting the jokes and violence in equal measure, it’s a charming adaptation. Even the arrows hitting the wood mimic the bullets matched to the rhythm in the earlier trailer. Here’s the original for comparison, so you can relive the magic all over again, before we have to return to worrying about whether or not Leto’s Joker is going to be as bad as the evidence thus far indicates.
