Queen guitarist co-authors astronomy book

Clearly we at The A.V. Club have been remiss in keeping up with the recent activities of Queen guitarist Brian May, and now we're late to his literary stargazing party. May, who was studying astronomy when he quit school to start Queen, is currently doing press for Bang! The Complete History Of The Universe, which he co-wrote with two British astronomers. Reuters has more:

"Just going out on a clear night and looking at the stars and seeing the steady light of these beautiful objects and realising how small my problems were has always been a source of inspiration," he said.

May also speculates, with creepy accuracy, what Freddie Mercury might have made of all this:

Reflecting on how the singer who died of AIDS in 1991 might have reacted to the astronomer-author, May concluded: "I am sure he would be sitting there smiling and saying 'Oh Well, if you want to get into that darling, that's very good for you.'"
