Queen Latifah to help MTV’s Scream get back on track
MTV is hoping that Queen Latifah is what its Scream series needs. According to TV Line, she has signed on as an executive producer for the third season reboot of MTV’s adaptation of the slasher classic. She’ll assume that role alongside her producing partners Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty. Meanwhile, the series’ rotating cast of showrunners will continue with Brett Matthews—an alum of The Vampire Diaries—taking over for Michael Gans and Richard Register. They followed yet another pair that were responsible for the first season. It’s unclear exactly what new creative direction everyone has in mind for the show, which is also set to get a completely new set of actors for its upcoming six-episode run, but we’re going to guess murder will be involved one way or another. Meanwhile, Latifah still has a regular acting gig on television as well, given that Star got renewed.
