Questlove to teach disaffected NYU youths about classic albums
Questlove is preparing to drop some knowledge on the students at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Billboard confirmed today. After responding to a review of Public Enemy's iconic album It Takes A Nation… written by an unimpressed NPR intern this past July, the drummer for The Roots was approached by Professor Jason King with an idea for a class that would provide some context for other such ignorant youths. The result is a course on classic albums that Professor Questlove will co-teach with producing veteran Harvey Weinger this spring. The class will take a look at what defines a "classic" and the work that was involved in producing some of the most well-known albums across a range of genres, including Aretha Franklin's Lady Soul, Led Zeppelin's IV, and the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique. It will also probably be, like, impossible to get into.
