Who he is: Quicksilver, a.k.a. Pietro Maximoff
His power: Super-speed, letting him do everything from run at incredible speed to shattering glass through rapid vibration.
His story: Along with his sister, Wanda, Pietro was orphaned at the age of 10 when bombs (bearing the imprint of Stark Industries) hit their home in Sokovia, killing his parents. In vengeance, the siblings joined up with Baron Von Strucker, whose scientists managed to use Loki’s scepter to give them powers. At the start of Age Of Ultron, they initially attacked the Avengers, hoping to get justice for their dead family—even joining forces with the malevolent AI Ultron—until they realized he intended to destroy humanity, and teamed up with Captain America and the others to defeat the sentient robot. Unfortunately, during the battle, Quicksilver was killed while saving Hawkeye and a young Sokovian child.
