R.E.M. releases its final single

It's the autumn of '80s indie-rock, with R.E.M.'s recent break-up and the separation of Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore. As the memories of your college-rockin' past slowly becomes fodder for those oldies concerts that pad out public-television fund-raising drives, R.E.M. has released its final single, "We All Go Back To Where We Belong," which will be included on the upcoming compilation Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage due out Nov. 15. (You can hear it here.) It's an appropriately easy-listening pop song for mourning the death of your youth. [via Stereogum]
