R.I.P. Ann Morgan Guilbert, The Dick Van Dyke Show’s Millie

Ann Morgan Guilbert, who played Millie Helper throughout five seasons of The Dick Van Dyke Show, has died from cancer. She was 87.

Guilbert worked regularly in television and the occasional film for more than 50 years, though her greatest fame came from the role of Millie, the friend and neighbor of Mary Tyler Moore’s Laura, on the famous ’60s sitcom. She had brief stints on other series through the years, including the short-lived The New Andy Griffith Show and Picket Fences, but her second longest-running role came in the ’90s, when she played the recurring role of Yetta Rosenberg on the Fran Drescher-starring sitcom The Nanny. More recently, she appeared on the HBO dramedy Getting On and CBS comedy Life In Pieces. She leaves behind a body of work that spans more than 50 roles.
