R.I.P. Bill Beckwith, co-host of HGTV's Curb Appeal

Bill Beckwith, co-host of HGTV’s Curb Appeal has died at the age of 38. Beckwith was killed Monday night in San Francisco, after a car struck his motorcycle. Police are still investigating the accident with the cooperation of the driver who hit him.

Curb Appeal , a home-improvement series focusing on remaking a house's exterior, has been on since 1999, with Beckwith joining the show as a carpenter in 2010, sharing co-hosting duties with John Gidding and Kimberly Lacy. Beckwith started his own construction company, San Francisco’s BB Design Build, in 2001. In a statement, HGTV said the network is “deeply saddened by Bill’s tragic death,” and that, along with Beckwith’s family and friends, they’ll “miss his creativity, adventurous spirit, and general love of life.” (Curb Appeal had already stopped production, though Gidding said in February that new episodes would still be released in a "slow trickle.")

Beckwith grew up on a 60-acre vegetable farm in Maine and attended the University of Montana. During summer breaks from college, he helped restore cabins at a historic fly-fishing ranch in Wyoming.

Beckwith leaves behind a girlfriend, Yulia Korneeva. His friends and fans are posting remembrances on a Facebook page, “Billy J. Beckwith, Superstar.”
