R.I.P. Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown
Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, died Sunday. Brown had been placed in hospice care following a months-long hospitalization after being found unconscious in her home. She was 22 years old.
Brown was born on March 4, 1993 in Livingston, New Jersey and was the only child from Houston and Brown’s marriage. She grew up in the spotlight, even appearing with her parents on their Bravo reality show, Being Bobby Brown. When the two singers divorced in 2006, Brown went to live with her mother. They remained close until her mother’s death in 2011.
Brown came from a long line of singers—her grandmother, Cissy Houston, was a member of ’50s gospel group The Drinkard Sisters, and Grammy winner Dionne Warwick was her mother’s cousin. Brown was an aspiring singer and tweeted updates earlier this year about a possible album in progress. She performed with her mother on Houston’s One Wish: The Holiday Album, as well as in a 2009 live performance on Good Morning America.
When Houston died in 2011 from a combination of heart disease and drug use, an “inconsolable” Brown was briefly hospitalized. The 2012 reality series, The Houstons: On Our Own, showed her coping with her grief and her mother’s legacy.
In January of this year, Brown was found unresponsive in a bathtub by her fiancé Nick Gordon. She was placed in a medically induced coma for six months, but never regained consciousness.
