R.J. Mitte to recur, maybe have breakfast on Switched At Birth

Walt. Jr.—er, R.J. Mitte—has taken his leave from Albuquerque and will soon be joining the cast of ABC Family’s Switched At Birth. The Breaking Bad alum will be playing Campbell, “a pre-med college student paralyzed by a snowboarding accident who works at the free clinic.” Because young-adult TV shows are nothing if not spot-on in their depictions of people that could actually exist in the real world.

Switched At Birth’s creator, Lizzy Weiss, says she’s thrilled to have Mitte join the cast, and not just because of his expert knowledge of breakfast foods. Says Weiss, “Our show is about diversity and telling stories about people from all walks of life.” She goes on to say that Campbell, the character Mitte will be playing, “is charismatic, funny, and a bit of a ladies’ man, and we think Breaking Bad fans will enjoy seeing Walt Jr. in a totally different light.”

Mitte will join the show when it returns in January 2014.
