The R. Kelly that the world knows as a superstar has not always led such a fabulous life. In “My Story,” the R&B star recalls his rags to riches (or Chi-town dirt to Versace shirts) story with the help of southern rapper 2 Chainz. There’s no mention of being trapped in a closet or trapped in a number of notorious court cases, but the song does talk about money, cars, and hoes aplenty.
The song is the first single from Kelly’s upcoming album Black Panties, which Kelly says will be more along the lines of 1993’s super sexy 12 Play than last year’s romantic Write Me Back.
