R. Kelly is in police custody, awaiting bail
Musician R. Kelly is in police custody this morning, after turning himself in to the Chicago court system—which charged him yesterday with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, including accusations of “sexual acts with three children older than 13 but younger than 17"—last night. Per CNN, Kelly is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
Although Kelly made no public comment at the time of his arrest, his attorney Steve Greenberg remained depressingly on-brand in regards to the accusations of sexual coercion and force against his client: “I think all the women are lying,” he stated confidently. Greenberg also accused Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx of caving to “public pressure,” presumably stemming from the recent Surviving R. Kelly docuseries, as well as, well, all of the many people who have accused Kelly of sexually inappropriate and manipulative behavior over the last two decades, frequently with very young women.
Kelly’s arraignment is currently scheduled for March 8.
