Rachael Taylor cast as Hellcat in Netflix’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones
Rachael Taylor is the latest addition to Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series A.K.A Jessica Jones. The Crisis and Grey’s Anatomy star will play Patricia “Trish” Walker, a radio host and former child star who is the best friend of Krysten Ritter’s low-level superhero turned private detective Jessica Jones. The cast also includes Mike Colter as Jessica’s love interest Luke Cage (who will later headline his own Netflix series) and David Tennant as the show’s central villain.
Taylor’s character is based on Patricia “Patsy” Walker, a Marvel character who was first introduced in the ’40s and then later reappeared as Hellcat, a member of the Avengers. It’s unclear exactly how much Trish will resemble the Patsy of the comics, but according to Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, Trish must “balance both the darker and lighter elements” of the series when she helps Jessica embark on the most dangerous case of her career.
Jessica Jones is one of four Marvel series set to debut on Netflix ahead of a “miniseries event” called The Defenders. Daredevil and A.K.A Jessica Jones are due in 2015, while premiere dates for Iron Fist and Luke Cage are not yet set.
