Raekwon The Chef is cooking up a new album for the new year
We’re still a month a month out from the start of 2017, and the incoming year is already shaping up to be a pretty solid one for fans of old-school East coast hip-hop. First we learned that not only will A Tribe Called Quest likely be embarking upon one last world tour, but their now-deceased founding member Phife Dawg will get the second solo album of his career released posthumously. And now we’re hearing that a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan will be dropping a new solo project. Corey Woods—better known to the world as Raekwon The Chef—revealed via Instagram over the long weekend that his next “LP IS DONE !!!!!” (Also that “#blades is sharpened.”)
This will mark Raekwon’s seventh solo studio album, and something like his 14th you want to count collaborative efforts with the Wu. His previous album, 2015’s Fly International Luxurious Art, was generally well-received, even if it featured the Mafioso rapper “working with an entirely new recipe.” There’s no way of knowing what we’ll be getting this time around, but it should be fun to find out.
