Ramy, Hulu and A24's funny new series about Muslims and millennials, gets first trailer
Acclaimed film studio A24's been slowly dipping its toe into the TV world, having helped bring shows like 2 Dope Queens and Pod Save America to the small screen. Its latest project might be its most ambitious, though: Ramy, a 10-episode series starring comedian Ramy Youssef, investigates the fascinating cultural complexities faced by a first-generation Egyptian-American in New Jersey.
The above trailer demonstrates the struggle Youssef’s character faces when measuring his own interpretation of his Muslim faith against those of his parents. What do the old traditions and moral strictures look like for a twentysomething in an ultra-modern culture? Succession’s Hiam Abbass co-stars, as do Mohammed Amer, Amr Waked, May Calamawy, David Merheje, Laith Nakli and Steve Way.
Ramy’s full batch of episodes hits Hulu on Friday, April 19.
