It's been 25 years since The Smiths formed, and bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce have commemorated the anniversary by assembling a new DVD chronicling the band's history. Titled Inside The Smiths, the documentary features zero input from erstwhile bandmates Morrissey and Johnny Marr, who have famously clashed with Rourke and Joyce over royalties and turned down major reunion money in the past.
Meanwhile, classic-pop songsmith Joe Pernice–who wrote a 33 1/3 volume about The Smiths' Meat Is Murder in 2003–is reportedly working on a screenplay for a film based on the book (which is as much about himself as it is about the album).
