Rapper Gucci Mane arrested again
Designer hip-hop star Gucci Mane was arrested yesterday in Atlanta after police noticed him driving his white Hummer recklessly. When officers pursued him, they found Mane (real name Radric Davis) arguing with another man in front of a body shop; when the cops tried to break up the fight, Mane ignored them and punched the other guy, and the officers then subdued him with pepper spray and placed him under arrest.
Mane was subsequently booked under a litany of charges that included “damage to government property, obstruction, driving without a license, reckless driving, running a red light or stop sign, failure to maintain a lane, and driving on the wrong side of the road,” then held overnight. Damn, first it's not cool to scatter Ecstasy tablets and codeine syrup around your car while you spark up a joint as you're cruising around L.A., now it’s illegal to drive your Hummer down the wrong side of a road through a red light and damage government property all without a license, and then ignore the cop who’s trying to talk to you about it while you punch another guy in the face in front of him? Fucking cops.
Unfortunately, Mane’s arrest comes just a few months after Mane was released from prison, after spending several months there for violating parole. (Since 2005, he’s spent time there for “drug, aggravated assault or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges,” which is a lot of stuff.) Fortunately for him, the charges have since been dropped, uh, “for want of prosecution”—something that typically only happens when there’s an inordinate time delay. Given that this just happened last night, we’re not sure how that applies. In keeping with today’s apparent theme, perhaps it’s just a cover-up for a secret intervention by Bill Clinton? [Gawker]
