Raven-Symoné is heading from The View to a That’s So Raven sequel
In a move that many will say is just so Raven, Raven-Symoné is bidding farewell to ABC’s daytime talk enterprise The View in order to do a That’s So Raven spinoff, she announced today. The new Disney Channel series is following in the footsteps of Girl Meets World by making Symoné’s character, Raven Baxter, now a parental figure, subsequently making you feel ancient. On the original sitcom, the hijinks came from Raven’s tendency for having futuristic visions; in the new version, she’ll be a single mother, and one of her two children will have that same gift. She discussed the new show, and her departure from The View, on today’s installment. “I will say my experience has been multidimensional,” she said.
Per Variety, The View is probably not going to replace Symoné, who was being “phased out” anyway. (During her time on the show, Raven was known for making a variety of head-turning statements.) Remaining panelists include: Whoopi Goldberg, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris, Sara Haines, Jedediah Bila, and Sunny Hostin.
