Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles may soon be crammed down your moviehole
Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles may be headed toward a new film adaptation under the guidance of Fox’s John Davis, who oversaw such modern-day sci-fi classics as Alien Vs. Predator and the Will Smithified I, Robot. Leaving aside Davis’ less-than-stellar interstellar résumé, of course, The Martian Chronicles certainly doesn’t lack as source material: It’s stuffed with 28 chronological stories set on the Red Planet, so the odds are in our favor that at least one or two of those will pan out, right? And as the L.A. Times says, technology has certainly improved since 1980’s Rock Hudson/Bernadette Peters-starring miniseries, which Bradbury himself famously found “just boring.” Hopefully ol’ straight-shootin’ Ray will stick around long enough to see his most lasting work given the inevitable 3-D makeover so he can complain about that one, too. Bet this one won't have an awesome pan flute soundtrack, though.
