Ray Davies readies musical
In a move that seems like he's been building up to for most of his career, The Kinks' Ray Davies has finally finished his full-length musical. Titled Come Dancing after his group's 1983 hit, the production will debut at London's Theatre Royal Stratford East on September 13, and–like its namesake–will focus on the Postwar ballroom scene of his boyhood. Besides penning 20 new songs for the musical, Davies will appear onstage as narrator; the production will be directed by Kerry Michael, most recently of the stage adaptation of the reggae classic The Harder They Come.
