Read This: Forgotten (and misbegotten) home pizzas of yore

In this age of ordering pizza with an emoticon on Twitter, it’s helpful to look back in time not all that long ago—1975, specifically—to understand just how rough previous generations had it. Back then, Mental Floss notes, take-out pizza was a $5 billion industry, and delivery pretty much didn’t exist. Manufacturers searched for ways to replicate the pizza experience at home, and Mental Floss found some forgotten (and generally misbegotten) options from the instant era. While the bounty of home-baked pizza options at your local grocery store shows how far we have come, Pizza Hut’s hot dog pizza shows that we may have succumbed to hubris.
