Last night’s episode of Law & Order: SVU dove into the shallow end with an episode “ripped from the headlines,” assuming there were actually headlines about that time Jay Z and Beyoncé’s sister Solange tussled in an elevator. But this isn’t the first time the L&O franchise has taken a walk on the musical side. As Maura Johnston notes for Wondering Sound, Dick Wolf’s cops-and-lawyers world has ripped plots from Billboard and Rolling Stone a number of times, including an episode where Big Boi guest starred as the hideously named MC Gots Money, who met his maker after being eaten by some hyenas.
