While it’s fun to discover a whole bunch of new water Pokémon near a lake or stumble across a triumvirate of lured PokéStops, sometimes you just want to catch a Clefairy in the comfort of your own home. Thankfully, The Daily Dot has you covered with a clever way to catch Pokémon from home by tricking the game into thinking you’re in a new location.
It’s a slightly involved process and, unfortunately, the instructions are only applicable to Android users. It involves locating rare Pokémon on the PokéVision website, copying down their GPS locations, and using a fake location app to “move” your house to that location. Niantic has already wised up to a similar trick involving the Mock Locations tool in the Android developer option menu. Using a fake location app is a workaround for that, but it’s possible Niantic will soon find a way to prevent this cheat as well. That means you should be sure to catch those European Mr. Mimes and Asian Farfetch’d while you can.
