Read This: It’s a struggle to get video games into the Library Of Congress
It’d be hard to argue at this point that video games aren’t culturally or historically significant, yet, at least according to an article over on Buzzfeed by Joseph Bernstein, the Library Of Congress is doing a poor job archiving them. The piece details the struggles of Dave Gibson, one of only four employees that the Library Of Congress devotes to archiving an entire medium of entertainment. Gibson discusses the challenges associated with that archiving, including the Library’s inability to process digital distribution as well as getting publishers to even give the Library their games. It’s a good read about a subject that, as time goes on, will be increasingly important to video games as a whole.
