Tom Scharpling has made a number of fairly hilarious music videos, including clips for Ted Leo and The Postal Service. His latest is for Real Estate and features cameos from Andy Daly and Nick Kroll. The video is actually a mash-up of three different music videos, each in a style (supposedly) suggested by an online donor: erotic science fiction; an advertisement for a woman’s ceramics company; and something that harkens back to the “good old days” that a 78-year-old man remembers. Really, it’s not so much a music video as it is a bizarre art piece loosely tied to Real Estate’s song “Crime.” There are also vampires.
